Big Sur has a special energy that it is known for and so I’m not surprised so many couples choose to have their baby moon in Big Sur. To soak up the serenity, feel close to nature, hit a spa, and often have maternity photos taken. Read on for three tips to help you make the most of your baby moon and maternity session in Big Sur or Carmel-by-the-sea. You have worked HARD for that bump, and you deserve photos that make you feel proud of the goddess you are.
1.DON’T FORGET LOGISTICS THAT MAY BE MORE DIFFICULT WHEN YOU ARE PREGNANT: Where is the nearest bathroom? There are LONG stretches of Big Sur without bathrooms so it’s good to know where your nearest one is because, mamas have to go OFTEN!
2. CHOOSE A PHOTOGRAPHER WHOM YOU CAN BE COMFORTABLE AROUND: A lot of mamas choose me as their maternity session photographer because I am a new mama of two (a toddler and a newborn). So I have recently been on their journey and so they can be more comfortable around me. I also know how to pose for flattering angles of the bump, where to place hands that look more natural, etc. that I think comes from having been in that vulnerable state myself.
3. STAY SAFE: Make sure your photographer chooses a spot you can easily get to pregnant that is safe and not a HUGE hill or uneven ground you need to traverse haha. Please don’t wear heels or at least bring other shoes to walk in.
